Introduction to Kali Part 2($40)

Welcome again! This is the second in a series of workshops. We will continue to explore the sticks of Kali, one of the most recognized of the Filipino Martial Arts. We will review elements of the first workshop (Largo Mano or Long Range fighting; the Solo and Double Baston basics and the combat patterns of Five Basic Cuts, Tapi Tapi and Heaven and Earth 6) and enjoy further exposure into this wonderful method of self-defense.

Baston (sticks) are usually about 28 inches long. Because stick length can vary from discipline to discipline, the name of the system or art practiced can vary. Our goal is to learn some of the basics of this dynamic art. Through learning basics, with consistent practice, we have a better chance of growing into mastery.

Our instructor will again be David Cross from Indianapolis. David is an instructor in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Kali through the Progressive Fighting Systems with over 20 years of martial arts training. In addition, David has a background in Savate Kickboxing, Wrestling, Xingyi, and Tae Kwon Do.  If you missed the last one, you missed meeting a very dynamic and personable instructor.  I personally can’t wait to have him back!

Bring your sticks if you have them. If not, quality sticks will be available for $15.  Just register by March 4, 2021 so we can have them for you.

Thank you for joining us in this stop of our Martial Arts Journey with the introduction of Escrima, Arnis and Kali of the Filipino Martial Arts.

Note:  We are scheduled for 2pm to 4pm.  Last time we did not finish until 5:30pm!!  Just saying it was that great!
