Find a way could just as easily be said as “ No excuses “. The idea is to begin to think in a more positive way, versus the negative. Find a way is one of those 3 o clock in the morning thoughts that came from no where. One is fully conscious and yet “sleep” at the same time. The mind was on while the world was still. The string was started with the idea of “what do you want to do?” Find a way to get it done.

Those wandering thoughts continued with the question: What happened to us? To humans in general. To the adventurer and problem solver in us. There was a time in our lives of great over coming. There were many obstacles in our way. People found a way to over come them. They would see the problem and just simply find a solution. If the tool didn’t exist? They would create it. No way to travel or carry your load? They created a path and a vehicle. People didn’t like them? One would win them over or find another group of people to work with. Find a way was how we lived.
These days if difficulty is met, it is followed with an attitude of giving up or hopelessness. “I guess I’m not supposed to have this”. “I’m not good enough so I won’t try”. Did people from not too long ago give up? It seems to me when difficulty was met, those people would find an answer. If they weren’t good enough, they would practice and try and try again until they were good enough. They would study and learn to the point that what was foreign or unknown became known. New ways and new inventions were found. Is there nothing new to be found? Is there not a better way to do what we are doing?

Perhaps there are too many options. Perhaps there are too many people who can do it for us. We watch the little ones sit on the floor waiting for someone to put their shoes on for them. There is no effort on their part to even try. Even if they do it wrong. How cute was it when they walk down the hallway with the shoes on the wrong foot or not even matching shoes? At least they tried! 😀. Has life become too easy? Has this society made life too easy? Is there an expectation of “someone else will do it for me”? Someone else will take care of me. I don’t have to be strong. (Check out the blog Finding Weaknesses)

Let’s recapture the Find a Way attitude. One step at a time. Find something you can’t do and figure it out. Sure, find some help. There are many resources and information available.. Train your brain to see the possible. Relearn the child like way of not giving up. Do we have to be good at everything? Of course not. Perhaps our time is better spent having someone else do the task. Is this the case for everything? What do we lose by not working difficult tasks? What do we lose by not having the consequences of failure? (See the other side of this “failure” thought in Why do women have to be right? )
Ahhh… the threat of death; the ultimate failure. This is missing. We don’t worry about the harvest being small before the winter. Food is not an issue anymore. We can go right down the street for more. Danger of wild animals? Nope. The idea of being in before the lights come on is gone. (The light of the campfire) Isn’t that where the saying came from? The fire was lit before darkness set in. The animals that hunt do so at night. You don’t want to be out there with them; rather be safe by the fire. Failure to follow that rule usually results in tragedy. For most people there is very little danger in their lives. They don’t have to learn lessons of discipline, consequences or effort. People can do whatever they want. Someone will save them, feed them, fix their clothes, provide entertainment. We are very lazy. (You can do whatever you want: The Lie)
Find a way. Become that stubborn person. Become that “enlightened” person. Don’t give up when it gets hard. Seek out a difficult task and take it on. Learn while solving the issues and apply to the next endeavor.
